Mountain for You

Across the valley...The sun sets...in a Pink haze....

This is a very famous Mountain here in Washington...can you guess which one it is?

Ok!  It's Mt. Rainier - quite a famous site in Seattle.  It is an inactive volcano but some say it might blow some day like Mt. St. Helens.  It's visible year round on clear days.  It glows pink in the sunset and red in the sunrises.   Ice caves and crevices make for dangerous rock climbing but many go!

Doohhhhhh!  I was going to say Mt. St. Helens!  What do I know about mountains.  I live on one but I don't even know what it looks like, how goofy is that?  There are so many taller mountains in the distance that its easy to forget you're on a mountain.  Great pictures.  I'm guessing thats snow?

Thanks for the invitation to your journal and the comments you left in mine.  I would have known it was Mt. Ranier because we had neighbors from Washington that moved in next door to us when we lived in our townhome in Palmer Lake, CO and they gave me a photo that Al had taken of Mt. Ranier.  I also have one of a lake, and a waterfall and have no idea where they are, but I am pretty sure they are somewhere in Washington.  I am a radiology medical transcriptionist and actually type for hospitals in Washington.  I know one of them is in the Tacoma area and I think some or one may be in Seattle.  They are St. Francis, St. Josephs, and St. Clares.  After we left the Colorado Springs area, we moved northwest of Denver, we again moved next door to someone who was from about the same area as our previous neighbors.  What are the odds of that?  She ended up moving to Colorado Springs where we had just moved from and our other friends that had moved into the Springs moved to Dallas.  I just can't get over the odds of having two neighbors respectively who were from the same area.  The photos of Mt Ranier are awesome.  Going now to check out more of your journal.

It's the one that blew it's top on a Sunday morning around 8:00 AM many years ago and WOKE ME UP!!!

I lived in Richland, Wa., about 200 miles away.  In a couple of hours we had HUGE popcorn kernel gray clouds hanging over our house and dropping ASH.

We had a volcano party.  We made some punch, got out some chips and had about 20 people over . . . because with a DARK (and getting DARKER) sky and heavier ash falling, where ya gonna go?

We ended up barbequeing and everyone stayed into the night of a day none of us will EVER forget!
