Kitty Kitty, no Kitty

Sometimes kitty can be so oblivious.  Minka has very sharp claws.  She lives outside with her sister.  She is a really nice kitty most of the time.  Whenever she gets her claws caught in my clothes...well I have just never seen such hisses when I try to free her...I'm really not sure what to do but I sure miss her sitting in my lap...

Minka sure is a pretty cat.  But then again, are there really any ugly ones?  LOL

She's gorgeous! I adore cats, I'm lucky that mine don't get their claws into my clothes, they keep them tucked away when they sit with me, it's my rule and about the only one they abade with! Have a lovely weekend. Jeannette xx

Hey Maria!
Answer your question, I do trim Pickles claws. He started getting stuck on things with his claws and as it turns out that is what happens to cats as they get older. They start having trouble retracting their claws. Pickle was getting hung up on rugs and on chairs.

When I take him to the vet I have them trim his claws. They take a lot off as they can hold him (two people) and use a claw trimmer. Pickle is used it now and I can trim his front paws with a nail trimmer. I just snip the tips. It's tough for me to do his hind claws. He does scramble when I do this and often I have stop and try again.

Having trimmed claws does encourage Pickle to scratch more as he tries to sharpen his claws. It's working out as I'm not finding my cat stuck to a chair anymore.

Forgot to add that Pickle is an indoor cat. If you did trim your outdoor cat's claws it might not be able to escape up a tree or climb if it had to. Dog or other animal. It's instinctive for a cat in danger to use it's claws to pull itself or climb out of danger.

Hi Maria, I finally found your journal...lol...your Minka looks very much like our Mocha.  Mocha isn't as white around the neck but they do look so similar.  Mocha is a fraidy cat and hides a lot.  She's so timid.  Love your pictures.  Chris
